How the ‘Big Garden Birdwatch’ can get the kids drawing

At the end of January the last boxes of decorations go back in the loft, the air is crisper than ever and nature lovers all over the country head to their own back gardens and do their bit to contribute to the ‘Big Garden Birdwatch’.

Stand by the window with us and give your kids the chance to turn your garden into the ultimate game of ‘Where’s Woodpecker’!

All they have to do is sit where they can see the garden with a pencil and paper and make a note of the types of birds they see. Simple… Right?

The only problem is that our feathery friends can disappear before we find out what they are.

You’ll be happy to hear that I have the perfect way to get the detail down quickly to search for later. Just get the kids to draw a few of my birds below ready to colour in the details of colour and pattern they spot.

Even if you don’t get to the bottom of what that bird was you’ll be left with some wonderful drawings and memories that last a lifetime.

No time to draw? Just download and print my colouring sheet here .

I’ve very quickly coloured these two birds. Can you guess what they are?
