Virtual Author and Illustrator Visits with Sarah!

Online learning is becoming more challenging… So spark your children’s imaginations and ignite a love for reading by having an Author and Illustrator with 30+ hours of LIVE online workshop experience visit you for your World Book Day celebrations!

Having spent every week in every lockdown so far delivering Art and writing classes for all ages on Facebook LIVE – there’s not many Authors that can meet Sarah’s online experience!

Whether you want drawing, writing, readings or inspiration, there is plenty to suit every school’s needs with a visit from this Amazon Bestselling Author and Illustrator.

You can help grow their confidence to write their own stories and create illustrations with my selection of workshops and give them something they can be proud to show to their loved ones at the end of this memorable day!

Book Readings

I offer readings of all 3 of my books in my series The Shoe Foxes, Dragonfly Pie, Noisy Nora and my Christmas book Monty McFlew and the Christmas Mystery

Each is set up page by page on powerpoint presentations to be easily read on screen so all children can see clearly and hear me (not the loud page turning on the microphone!)

Workshops

Write your own ‘Tale of Willow Park’

I talk the children through an easy to follow story writing technique, while providing them with inspiration with a Power Point presentation on screen. Each child can work at their own speed to create their own stories and build confidence with writing with me there on hand to answer questions, provide tips and inspire them to move forward past any fears they may have about their abilities.

I can also run this workshop to be more tailored to your current projects or themes in school. Just ask!

Draw With Me

Tell me what the kids want to learn how to draw, or what would fit best to your current project and I can show them! The children watch and ‘draw with me’ as I talk them through step by step on the whiteboard, while they follow along on their own sheet in front of them. I can adapt my tutorial to the skills in the class with easier or more challenging drawings.

“Thank you, Sarah Parkinson @sparkyauthor for joining our online lessons this week. Your talk about how you became an author/illustrator was so inspirational and our pupils loved listening to your journey. It was great to hear, first hand, how your dreams can come true if you work hard and believe in yourself! The drawing tutorial at the end was fabulous and so much fun! Your illustrations are amazing and we loved hearing all about the stories in your books. Thanks so much!”

Nicola Dyke, Head of the English Faculty,
Oswestry School

“We invited Sarah to read her story ‘The Shoe Foxes’ to our children on World Book Day.  Sarah was fantastic with the staff and children and the session was pitched perfectly for Key Stage 1.  Her reading brought the story to life and the children were transfixed throughout.  After hearing the story the children were keen to draw and colour the Shoe Foxes and at playtime went out to look for them.  We will definitely be inviting Sarah back to hear her next story. “

Philippa Abel
Yew Tree Primary School

“We were delighted to have Sarah visit our class and her stories tied in perfectly with our ‘animals’ topic. Our children were all so engaged by the session and eager to contribute. Sarah really brought the stories to life and it was lovely to see the same enthusiasm from the children. After hearing the stories the children were keen to pick up books, talk about and draw the animals they had just seen and learnt about. We are still hearing the children talk about ‘grebes’ to date! We very much look forward to inviting Sarah back in the future.”

Julia Sharples, Reception Teacher
Bredbury Green Primary School

“Sarah is extremely talented, and delivered a high quality workshop for Year 2 children, which was full of enthusiasm. The children were truly motivated by her engaging personality, spectacular illustrations and captivating text. The children were inspired to produce some fantastic stories and illustrations as a result of the workshop. We look forward to inviting her again to our school!”
